Our Story

The Story of No Relation

Three men leaning out of a food truck window, smiling. One wears a blue cap reading 'JACOBSEN SALT CO.', another has a gray hat, and the third has a backward gray cap. The food truck has a black menu listing sides, kids' meals, and drinks, with orange and wooden elements in the background.

Maverick and Chase Miller met in culinary school at Colorado Mountain College in 2017. Both young, hungry, and beginning their first adventures away from their hometowns, the two quickly became friends while working together at Vail Resorts during their culinary apprenticeships.

After graduation, they went their separate ways, spending the next six years cooking in acclaimed restaurants across the West Coast. Their paths eventually brought them back together at Bos Taurus, where the idea of going into business together—something they had always dreamed about—began to feel possible.

Then they met Paul.

Paul’s passion for agriculture, food, and business was the push Maverick and Chase needed to finally take the leap. After a year of working together and building not only a friendship but a true partnership, No Relation was born.

Now, the three are excited to bring what they know to Bend and serve a community they all love.

Who we are

Chase Ryan Miller

Growing up outside Boulder, Colorado, I developed a lifelong love for the outdoors and a passion for cooking. That passion led me to the Colorado Mountain College Culinary Institute in Breckenridge, where I graduated in 2019 and discovered what it meant to be a chef and dedicate myself to mastering the craft.

Since then, I’ve worked in acclaimed kitchens including Fruition in Denver, Canlis and The Whale Wins in Seattle, and Atoma, where I helped open the restaurant as Sous Chef. After moving to Bend in late 2025, I joined Bos Taurus. Through every kitchen, what keeps me inspired is the opportunity to create food that brings people joy, while continuing to grow as a chef and make time for the mountains I’ve always called home.

Paul Robert Knisely

Born in Washington, D.C. and raised in Arlington, VA, I grew up exploring the Potomac watershed and playing just about every sport I could. My interest in the human body led me from competitive sports to five years of martial arts and five years of practicing and teaching hatha yoga.

I spent over a decade in Santa Cruz County, CA, working in agriculture and developing a deep appreciation for quality ingredients and responsible food production. After moving my young family to Bend in 2025, I joined the team at Bos Taurus, where I gained a deeper understanding of what goes into creating a great food experience.

I’ve always enjoyed helping people feel better, and I’m excited to bring that passion to the No Relation food truck team.

Maverick James Miller

Born in Pagosa Springs, Colorado, I grew up surrounded by the mountains, spending my time camping, hiking, snowboarding, and exploring the rivers and lakes. I started cooking in a commercial kitchen at 14 and quickly fell in love with the craft. After graduating from the Colorado Mountain College culinary program in Breckenridge, I joined the opening team at Rootstalk under acclaimed chef Matt Vawter, which went on to earn a James Beard Award. My career took me through Colorado and Arizona before bringing me to Bend, Oregon, where I’ve spent the past two and a half years as sous chef at Bos Taurus. My cooking is rooted in the places I’ve lived, the outdoors I grew up around, and a passion for bringing people together through food.
